The Research and Innovation office (RIO) at the University of Southern Denmark (SDU) is looking for a project manager with competence, experience and interest in the management and administration of large European research and innovation projects.

The main task is the support of and collaboration with scientific project owners of large and complex European research and innovation consortia. Job description
The job’s core is professional project management of large and complex European research and innovation consortia conducted via facilitation of optimal consortium cooperation, monitoring progress, and managing the project incl. deviations from the plan, together with the scientific project lead. The position is thus a mix between acting as the PI’s right-hand person, as well as interacting with other units at SDU, the project partners and stakeholders incl. the grantor (typically the European Commission) on behalf of the project. Your closest colleague will be an experienced project leader who will support you especially in the onboarding phase.
Initially, you will be responsible for one project. Later, you will support two or more projects simultaneously, depending on the project and consortium sizes. The first concrete task is project management of a project within the healthcare domain. The project runs until March 2027 and therefore, the position is temporary with a duration of 51 months. However, a second project is expected to start in the Spring of 2023, providing good chances for extension of the employment in time.
Your profile
We are looking for a self-motivated colleague experienced in project management and administration of large research and innovation consortia, preferably European projects. Applicants are expected to have a structured approach to task-solving and to thrive with being responsible for efficient and high-quality administrative support and proactive project management. Interpersonal, intercultural, communication and self-management skills are also vital.

- The position will require travel within Europe several times per year.
- Danish language skills are not required but are an advantage. Proficient English skills in speech and writing are necessary.
- European citizenship or working permit is necessary with few exceptions.
Application
- The application deadline is 3rd of December 2022.
- 1st and 2nd round interviews are expected to take place December 5.-9. and 14.-16. 2022, respectively.
- 1st round interview by telecom is an option for candidates not based in Denmark.
- Job start is February 1st 2023, preferentially.
- Please note that, initially, the position is a fixed-term employment for 51 months. However, new projects are expected to enable a permanent employment in the long run.
- Employment will take place as administrative officer or special consultant with salary in accordance with qualifications.
- The primary place of employment is Cortex Park 26, 5230 Odense M, Denmark, but tasks will require periodic presence at University Hospital in Odense or likely in other SDU campus towns. Occasional travelling in Europe is also expected.

About SDU RIO
SDU RIO was established in 2017 as a central unit at SDU with the purpose of supporting SDU’s strategic focus on creating value for and with society. SDU RIO has a broad portfolio of tasks – and value creation is realised through close SDU internal as well as external collaboration. The main focus of SDU RIO is to support and facilitate the interaction between research, education, industry, grant providers and the public sector. The Research Support team in SDU RIO works with research support incl. external relations, project development, fundraising and project management.
