Call for volunteers
Overall, DARMA is an organization in good health. We have a stable economy, a growing membership base, and plenty of activities carried out and planned throughout the year. But we need more active volunteers…
DARMA is driven by volunteer engagement. DARMA is relying on individuals to volunteer and engage in the activities of our association. But many of our activities hinges on the same group of active members. They need a helping hand and now is a great opportunity of becoming a DARMA volunteer.
How you can help
There are many ways you can help in DARMA. The most obvious way to contribute, is to join the board. The board hold meetings every second month, and coordinate and delegate tasks to ad hoc working groups. As a board member you will get the most direct influence on the directions of DARMA as an organization, and very free reigns to arrange- and allocate budget to DARMA activities. Board members are elected by the members. To run for the board send a short bio to kasserer@darma.dk before 27 March 2024, or announce your candidacy at the General Assembly 25 April in Odense.
Another very direct and meaningful way to contribute, is to take the position as chair of a Special Interest Group (SIG). The SIGs are where members meet around shared interest or niche problems. Right now, we need new chairpersons for the SIGs on Impact, Management Information and Post Award. If we can find no chairpersons the SIGs will become Inactive and eventually closed down.
Finally, you can always offer to plan a stand-alone DARMA event. If you have an idea for a workshop, seminar, study trip or similar, don’t hesitate to reach out to the board to pitch your idea. It is extremely rarely that we turn down member-initiated initiatives, the board will help with marketing it on DARMA’s homepage and setup registration – and most often we will also be able to help with a budget.
Why volunteer?
Volunteering in DARMA is an instrument that can help realize your ambitions of career development and skill enhancement. We share a niche profession with few obvious career pathways and training opportunities, so we often need to make out own. Make DARMA the platform where you hone your subject specific skills and prove that you can be a community leader in the world of research support and administration. Your CV will love you for it! You are not alone
The DARMA board supports volunteers in a special SIG for Volunteers. This included events specially for volunteers to exchange of best practice, and giving advise and help throughout the year in setting up events and engaging members.
