A comprehensive Europe-wide survey is being launched by RM ROADMAP (Horizon Europe Project) to get a comprehensive picture of the current situation of Research Managers (RMs) across Europe.

The survey was designed by RM Roadmap Partners, HETFA and NOVA, building upon the foundations laid by previous research.

The survey aims to offer a holistic understanding of the current state of research management in Europe and to collect information in key areas, such as:

• Defining the Profession: Develop a more inclusive definition and terminology for Research Management professional categories.
• Career Development: Work towards the formulation of an overarching career development framework for Research Managers.
• Skills and Competence: Create a skill and competence matrix tailored to Research Management.
• Future Training scheme: Plan to develop a comprehensive training scheme for future Research Managers

Collected data will be shared via online open access repositories (Figshare and Zenodo) after thorough anonymisation. Results of the research will be also published open access in research reports and possibly in peer-reviewed scientific publications which shall include the characterisation of the national professional communities. Thus, it is also important to ensure a representative participation of the national professional communities in the field of Research Management.

The deadline to complete the survey is 22 December 2023.
