SUND Research Data & Computing Coordinator (KU)

We are seeking a highly motivated and dynamic consultant to help shape the IT landscape for research at the Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences at the University of Copenhagen.

You will be employed at the Center for Health Data Science and will work very closely with the Dean’s Office, UCPH-IT and academic staff at departments and centres.

The Center for Health Data Science (HeaDS) was launched in 2020 with the aim of strengthening data science research and use at the Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences (SUND). The Center functions as a hub for research groups throughout the faculty to establish data science as a topic of research in its own right. The SUND DataLab within the Center provides data science support for all research groups at SUND and runs courses to improve the data science skills of the biomedical researchers. Our philosophy is a relaxed work environment driven by inspired and independent people.

With support from the faculty, we have created a new position with the aim of further qualifying and strengthening our understanding of and dialogue with the central IT department (UCPH-IT) about the academic staff’s research IT needs.

Primary tasks
You will be an ambassador for and facilitator of increased use of available IT resources and best practices in data-driven research and be responsible for driving and coordinating research IT efforts in the health sciences area, including:

  • Act as a link to UCPH-IT in questions regarding research IT in the health sciences area.
  • Investigate and qualify the needs of researchers at departments and centres.
  • Prepare decision papers and advise the Dean’s Office and Faculty Management on the development and needs for research IT.
  • Prioritize requests for development at UCPH-IT Research Support that can be used in UCPH-IT’s planning.
  • Stay updated on the research IT system landscape locally, nationally, and internationally.
  • Play an active role in relation to existing solutions and services (e.g., DEIC, ERDA, SIF, Computerome, LUMI, etc.).
  • Be updated on research data management and regulations regarding sensitive health data handling and advising management and researchers on this.

You will be anchored at the HeaDS (https://heads.ku.dk/) with a very close collaborative relationship with UCPH-IT, the Dean’s Office and the academic environments at departments and centres.

The position is new, and you will be involved in defining and developing the scope and tasks.

About you
You have a relevant academic degree, academic experience from working in a scientific environment and experience with or a strong interest in working with research IT in a university context. It will be an advantage if you have a PhD. Furthermore, you:

  • Have basic insight into research infrastructure and data management with an overall understanding of e.g., server and storage solutions, HPC and Cloud solutions, DeiC and other national and international IT infrastructures.
  • Preferably have knowledge of health science/biological data science (e.g., bioinformatics).
  • Are informed on regulations for handling sensitive health data (GDPR and Danish guidelines).
  • Can set the agenda and drive a participatory process across the organization.
  • Can prepare decision-making presentations.
  • Have strong collaboration skills and a desire to develop solutions in close collaboration with UCPH-IT and the health science researchers.

Terms of employment
You will be employed as a Research Consultant or Senior Research Consultant (‘forskningskonsulent’ or ‘seniorforskningskonsulent’) depending on your prior experience and qualifications.

The position is full-time (37 working hours weekly) for a fixed term (4 years).

The salary will be in accordance with the provisions of the AC collective agreement. It will be possible to negotiate a salary supplement based on qualifications.

How to apply
Please submit your application including a short letter of motivation, curriculum vitae, and relevant documentation by clicking on “Apply Now” below by no later than 1 January 2024.

Interviews will be held during week 2.

We wish to reflect the diversity of society and welcome applications from all qualified candidates regardless of personal background.

Questions
For further information regarding the position, please contact Head of Center, Professor Anders Krogh (anders.krogh@sund.ku.dk) or Head of Staff (Dean’s Office) Lise Bøgh Hansen (lise.hansen@sund.ku.dk, tel. +45 26240205).
