Get to know a new tool to develop and communicate the impact of research projects

DTU proudly presents the Impact Canvas Workshop presented by Dr. Jörg Langwaldt, Tampere University of Technology. The Impact Canvas was introduced at the annual EARMA Conference, in Malta 2017 and thus this workshop will allow for a hands-on practical experience with applying the Impact Canvas as a tool in developing successful proposals.

Research funders increasingly assess and fund proposals based on the impact of foreseen results. Horizon 2020 calls for joint and multi-disciplinary efforts of academia and stakeholders during the entire research and innovation process to better address the expectations, needs and values of society. However, there is a shortage of tools that serve the need of university-based applicants to develop and communicate their innovative ideas to others. Especially university-based researchers might have limited background in innovation business and many existing tools, such as the Business Model Canvas, are designed for business planning.

The Impact Canvas aims to enhance early idea testing and development with the focus of the impact on society and/or the customer need.

Registration link at bottom of page.

A message from Sharon Bailey, EARMA Chair:

Welcome to the 24th Annual EARMA Conference 16-18 April 2018.

It is my pleasure as Chair to invite you to Brussels for the 2018 EARMA Annual Conference. The Annual Conference Programme Committee is working hard to ensure that this year’s programme is both stimulating and insightful.

EARMA understands that winning research funding has never been more competitive than now and excellent impactful research requires excellent research support from motivated and up to date professionals. The first draft conference programme will be available in December 2017, please explore the topics and speakers to familiarize yourself with all the options available and start thinking about which sessions align best with your and your organisation’s objectives and aspirations.

There are many reasons why you should attend the EARMA conference:

    1. Attending the conference will provide you with new practical skills and learn proven methods to put you on the fast track to success.
    2. Learning from real success stories means you will save time and money trying to figure out what works.
    3. A good conference will challenge your current way of thinking, but will also provide you with actionable advice and take-aways. Our speakers will challenge you to think critically about your work. They will also provide you with actions and advice you can start using immediately.
    4. This is a networking opportunity you can’t miss. Some of Europe’s performance and collaboration experts will be at the conference. You will have the opportunity to interact with leaders in your field who are addressing the very same daily problems you are likely facing.

Each year the EARMA’s conference moves around Europe. Brussels in April 2018 will be EARMA’s 24th international conference. Collegiality is one of the key features of our conferences. So, whether you’ve been a loyal supporter of all other 23 EARMA conferences or this is your first one, joining us in Brussels will be one of the best decisions you make this year.

Belgium is one of the six founding countries of the European Union and hosts the official seats of the European Commission, Council of the European Union, and European Council, as well as a seat of the European Parliament in the country’s capital, Brussels. As the centre of European culture and institutions, Brussels has a lot to offer with almost 90 museums, beautiful parks, architecture, world famous cuisine and an amazing conference!

I look forward to seeing you in Brussels.

    Sharon

Welcome to INORMS 2018, and welcome to Edinburgh!

ARMA, the Association of Research Managers and Administrators UK, welcomes you to the biennial congress of the International Network of Research Management Societies. We’re delighted to be hosting this seventh INORMS congress, in the wonderful city of Edinburgh, bringing together our UK members with delegates from across Europe, Africa, Asia, Australasia and the Americas.

The Congress will feature a variety of plenary sessions, seminars and workshops covering key research management topics, specifically exploring our theme, Promoting Global Research Management, Supporting Global Research Challenges. The programme will be enhanced by a variety of opportunities for delegates to develop their personal and professional skills, and build their CV.

Edinburgh – Scotland’s vibrant capital city – will play host to the Congress, providing delegates with access to the history, arts, culture and natural heritage that the city has to offer. Edinburgh welcomes nearly 4 million visitors each year, and is geared up to extend that welcome to our INORMS participants.

So join us for a braw time in Auld Reekie! As JK Rowling has said of Edinburgh, ‘It is one of the most hauntingly beautiful places in the world, the history is fascinating, the men are handsome and the whisky is delicious. But don’t eat the macaroni pies.’
